Young Hooligan!
The disgraceful anti social behaviour of this youngster was recently drawn to my attention.
If you see him, I suggest you perform an immediate citizens arrest!

Christianity in the Media
The latest theme picked by you was to look at how Christianity is presented in the media. To do this we looked at four fictional Christian characters who are regularly on our screens at the moment. These are Lucas from Eastenders, Sophie from Corrie, Carmel from Hollyoaks, and Ned Flanders from the Simpsons.
As we considered their stories we discovered a collection of people who didn’t really reflect Christianity as we know it. Flanders is too extreme and overbearing. Carmel is presented as an airhead and is superstitious. The motives of Sophie’s faith were called into question – is it actually about attention seeking/fitting in with people. And Lucas has recently changed from being a good bloke to being a psychopath!
All this presents us with a big challenge. If we’re not happy with how Christianity is portrayed, it is up to us to show something different. If we don’t then we’re abandoning people to get their understanding of Christianity from characters like these.
We looked at Matthew 5:14-16 which says: “You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”
Our challenge is to be this light to those around us. It’s not the light of how good we are, but the light of Jesus shining through us. This means we need to surrender to him, ask his forgiveness when we mess up, and allow him to fill us with his Spirit. When these things happen, he will help us to be this light to our friends, families, and the World!
